Location: Grand Vue Park in Moundsville, WV
Join us for the inaugural West Virginia Mountain State chili championship at Grand Vue Park on Saturday, April 28. This will be a sanctioned competition by the chili appreciation society international and all money raised will be donated to the Grand Vue Foundation for area youth.
The rules are simple: cook your best pot of red chili from scratch and onsite (no beans/chunky vegetable, rice, corn etc.)and provide a small (24 oz cup) sample for judging. Judges will conduct a blind taste test of all entries and determine an overall winner.
The top three finishing West Virginia resident cooks will receive an automatic entry to cook in the International Chili Championship in Terlingua Texas in November. And to see how you measure up to the best, the reigning CASI champion Brent Allen of George West Texas will be competing alongside everyone.
Entry fee for this cook off is only $25 and chili must be turned in at 2:00pm. In addition, we are encouraging cooks to stick around and serve their chili to the public to raise money for the Grand Vue Foundation. If you have questions about the event or how to cook a winning pot you can call our event organizer Mr. Kit Rudd at 571 228 3783 or Mike Watkins at 240 328 4020. We hope to see you there!
